Become a Panelist
Panelists amplify the voice of Houston’s arts community, network with other creatives, and empower innovation by reviewing city-funded grant applications.
HAA invites creative individuals, both local and national, from all artistic backgrounds and professional fields to apply for panel service.
By lending your voice as a panelist, you become a voice for creative expression that helps shape Houston's arts and culture future.
In addition, panelists receive an honorarium to read and score competitive grant and civic art applications.
Panels include a breadth of skills, backgrounds, and perspectives. Applications are accepted from practitioners of all artistic disciplines, including, but not limited to, musicians, visual artists, performers, textile artists, digital artists, poets and writers; as well as creatives such as arts patrons, hair and makeup artists, nail techs, gallerists, preservationists, and arts administrators. Community leaders, professionals, and corporate volunteers representing the cultural, academic, and public and private sectors are highly encouraged to apply too.
Panel service is a valuable opportunity for community members to learn about HAA’s competitive grants practice and calls for art process.
