Grants Working Groups
In 2023, HAA launched the Grants Working Groups. These groups now play a major role in creating the annual grants evaluation. The groups are composed of arts community members who review and provide input on every aspect of the grants process. HAA invited arts community leaders, arts managers, artists, and creatives to join the inaugural cohorts.
There were three working groups: one for organization leaders, one for individual artists and creatives, and a BIPOC centered group with representation from both organizations and individual artists, and they purposefully included those who have never applied for grants, to ensure input from both applicants and non-applicants. Throughout their engagement, the working groups provided input on how HAA supports grantees, grant term touch points with grantees, and final reporting, as well as the annual evaluation itself, marketing and launch of grant opportunities, guidelines and applications for our annual programs, and panel adjudication. Everything was open to input. The feedback from the working sessions will become the majority of the content of the 2024 Annual Grants Evaluation, which is presented to the Grants Committee of the board of HAA and then to the city.
