Work Samples

Work samples allow applicants to show consistent and confident proficiency in their proposed project and overall body of work.
They help peer panelists evaluate the artistic merit of your proposal, and get to know you better as an artist or arts organization.
Effective uploads highlight not only artistic expression but also audience engagement.

Descriptions and Context

Applicants are encouraged to include brief text descriptions with each work sample. Descriptions help panelists understand the context, public benefit, and/or process behind your work. You might include information about:
  • The significance of the content on your arts practice.
  • When and where the work sample content was created or presented.
  • Your role in collaborative works.
  • The relationship between the sample and your proposed project.

General Recommendations to Applicants

  • Select work samples that most directly relate to the project for which you’re seeking funding.
  • If possible, submit a range of examples that best represent your artistic vision.
  • Work samples don’t need to be perfectly polished, and works-in-progress are welcome.
  • Submit your work samples confidently, as it will help panelists understand your artistic practice.

Remember that work samples are a crucial part of your application and play a significant role in the panel’s evaluation process.
