Welcome New Director of Grants: Quang Vu!

Houston, TX – The Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) proudly announces the appointment of Quang Vu as the new Director of Grants. As of September 2nd, Quang brings a wealth of knowledge in grants management, community engagement, trust-based philanthropy, the Houston arts and culture sector, and a new lens of stewardship towards HAA’s city-funded grant programs.

A University of Houston graduate with a BFA in painting and triple minor in business administration, sales, and art history, Quang showcases his commitment for the arts. He has worked at arts organizations like Fresh Arts and DiverseWorks, before initially joining HAA’s grants department in 2019 as the Grants & Communications Coordinator. He was later promoted to oversee the External Affairs department in March of 2020.

In November of 2021, Quang joined GlobalGiving, an international philanthropy and crowdfunding platform, where he oversaw corporate social responsibility and corporate grantmaking partnerships for companies such as L’Oreal, Toshiba, and Capital One. Quang’s career in philanthropy and grantmaking led him to join Arnold Ventures, a national philanthropic organization focused on policy change and advocacy, in 2023 as a Grants Manager. In this role, he oversaw a portfolio of charitable investments and ensured operational excellence in grants.

“We are thrilled to welcome Quang back to Houston Arts Alliance as our new Director of Grants,” said Taylor Jackson, CEO of HAA. “Quang brings not only a deep understanding of our city’s arts ecosystem, but also a proven commitment to community-centered grantmaking. His leadership, vision, and insight will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the ways we serve Houston’s artists and organizations. We are excited for this next chapter under his guidance and know that his leadership will have a lasting impact on our creative community.”

Quang Vu expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, sharing, “Having worked at various grantmaking institutions, I am looking forward to leading and improving HAA’s grant-making to ensure it is equitable, transparent, fair, and community centered. Above all, I look forward to working in partnership with artists and arts organizations to ensure that HAA continues to be a good steward of Houston city dollars.”
