May 27, 2025 – On behalf of the South Post Oak Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ 9), Houston Arts Alliance invites artists and artist-teams to submit qualifications for the design, fabrication, and installation of a permanent public artwork that honors the life of former District K Council Member Larry V. Green. The desired artwork will be installed at Simon Michen Park, Located in District K.

This opportunity seeks the completion of a large-scale outdoor sculpture or installation and is envisioned as an uplifting memorial that will pay homage to Larry V. Green’s life and service to District K and the City of Houston. As part of the artmaking process, artists will be required to meet with stakeholders to ensure the artwork properly honors the late councilmember’s family and the District K community. This call is open to all Greater Houston Area artists and artist-teams over 18 years of age.
