Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) is an independent nonprofit that strengthens Houston’s creative ecosystem through programs supported by private, philanthropic, and public partners. As the City of Houston’s arts partner, HAA also administers arts grants, public art projects, and cultural planning—ensuring that creativity in Houston is resourced, resilient, and reflective of the community it serves.
Each of our initiatives operates through its own funding channel—City contracts, public-private partnerships, and donor-supported relief funds—reflecting the breadth of HAA’s work beyond municipal funding.
As Houston’s local arts agency, we partner with the City of Houston on key public programs while also delivering privately and philanthropically-supported initiatives that serve the broader creative ecosystem. This includes administering arts grants, commissioning and caring for public art, leading cultural planning, and supporting resilience and recovery that strengthen Houston’s creative community.
HAA is not a policymaker, nor do we make subjective funding decisions. We administer, support, and amplify—ensuring that public and private funds are distributed through fair, transparent processes guided by community panels and strategic oversight.
All of our work shares a single purpose: to ensure that creativity in Houston is resourced, resilient, and reflective of the community it serves.
We envision a Houston where the arts are woven into everyday life and artists, organizations, neighbors, and visitors can flourish together.
Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) connects Houston’s creative community by equipping artists and organizations with support, resources, and partnerships to grow and lead with creative strength.
