Grants Working Group

In 2023, Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) launched the Grants Working Group (GWG), a diverse group of artists, arts workers, and community members committed to shaping and improving the grants process. Participants include both past grantees and first-time applicants, ensuring a broad range of perspectives and lived experiences inform our work.

Established to advance accessibility, equity, and transparency, the GWG reviews key aspects of the grant-making process, including outreach, guidelines, applications, workshops, panel adjudication, and final reporting. Every stage is open to feedback and refinement, helping to build a more inclusive program that reflects and supports the needs of Houston’s arts community.

Sign-ups are now open for this year’s Grants Working Group!

Submit your interest by August 14. We typically select about 25 participants, and each will receive a small honorarium.

To be considered, please confirm your availability for all dates below. Meetings typically last 1.5 hours. Specific times to be determined based on the groups overall availability.

Tuesday, September 9 – Orientation

Tuesday, September 30 – Session 1

Tuesday, October 7 – Session 2

Tuesday, October 21 – Session 3

Monday, November 3 – Session 4

Selected participants will be notified by Friday, August 22.
