About HAA

Houston Arts Alliance (HAA) is a local nonprofit whose principal mission is to implement the City’s vision for its grantmaking and civic art investments. All our work is conducted through contracts overseen by City of Houston and the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA).

HAA administers competitive arts grants to individuals and organizations, funded through a dedicated portion of HOT revenue allocated to promote tourism to Houston. Beyond grants, HAA’s Civic Art Division manages the City’s Civic Art Collection. The Civic Art team handles acquisitions, commissions, and conservation. The team collaborates with artists and vendors, oversees projects, and ensures they stay on schedule and within budget. Private funding supports HAA’s disaster recovery services, arts education, research, and public art initiatives.

In short, HAA helps artists and nonprofits be bold, productive, and strong.
